First Post

Just created my first blog - so lots of work to do on it but I will update as I learn more about blogging.  Second last Sunday at home before I leave to join Gordon in Angola - scared, excited and all sorts of emotions rolling around at the moment.  Who would have thought that Gordon and I would be moving to Angola - a surprise for a lot of folk most of all me!

This week should see me finalising packing both for myself and with the packers who are coming to do their survey tomorrow.  Mera our lovely GSD is all ready to go too, she has all her paperwork and injections, which means she will be able to come home as long as we make sure she has her rabies booster in Angola and all her paperwork is verified and updated.  I still have to get the last of my injections - hate the thought of that but as they say 'needs must'  Still need to get Mera's paperwork translated into Portugese  though!

Gordon moved into our house in Luanda last week and is busy trying to make sure it makes a good first impression on me.  The company he works for is furnishing it with all brand new household things and from the photos I've seen it looks lovely.  One problem I have is that I am not a sun lover - so how will I cope with the African sun, watch this space for updates.

Plan to put my time to good use while in Luanda, doing some voluntary work, but I don't want to appear like a goody goody helping out the poor natives.  Going to see somethings that will no doubt upset me but also other things that will be just amazing.  Have been in touch with some ladies already out there and they seem very nice indeed.  One of the ladies just lives across the road from my daughter in Montgarrie - it surely is a small world!  For the first wee while I will be staying close to home until I get used to the way of things.  Gordon tells me there is a wee local shop right across from  our house - so thats a bonus - wonder if they sell Irn Bru?  When Gordon is at work Mera and I will have access to our own driver who will take us to the beach for our walks - how sureal!  I will miss my walks in the hills with her - total freedom!  Life in Luanda will be different and restrictive but the most important thing is that I will be with the love of my life - my husband Gordon!
